Name sound familiar? That’s because Ariel Lassiter is the son of Roy Lassiter, the record holder for most goals in a season with 27. Ariel has played with the LA Galaxy II USL side the past two seasons, leading the team in goals during the last campaign.

In a team statement, Bruce Arena, the club’s head coach and general manager stated:

Ariel is a talented attacking player who has contributed at a high level with LA Galaxy II. We are excited for him to continue his development with the first team.

Lassiter, 21, started his career in Sweden with club GAIS after playing college soccer at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2014.

Lassiter was born in Costa Rica but raised in Southern California. He has made appearances for both Costa Rica and the United State’s youth national teams scoring two goals in five appearances for Costa Rica. The young striker becomes the fourth player to sign for the Galaxy from the club’s USL team following in the footsteps of Dave Romney, Daniel Steres and Clement Diop.

The striker has made just one appearance in MLS since joining the Galaxy’s USL side but will hope to add to that number this season as a member of the L.A. Galaxy.
