According to The Independent, former England international Joe Cole is close to signing for NASL side Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The Ex-Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool midfielder is currently at Coventry City on a short deal and is set to make the move to the U.S. this summer.

Cole started his career with West Ham United back in 1998 as he went on to make over 100 appearances for the club. He then gained a move to Chelsea where he spent seven years playing over 150 games. Cole then went on to play for Liverpool, Lille, Aston Villa and Coventry.

According to the report, Cole will sign a one-year deal with the club. Tampa Bay Rowdies compete in the North American Soccer League (NASL), U.S. soccer’s second division.

This will be some coup for the side who look to make a name for themselves this season with Cole joining. It will also be a big coup for the NASL, as another big name player will be making the move, with former Spurs star Niko Kranjcar joining the New York Cosmos last week.
