It didn’t take long for Vancouver to take the lead as debutant Masato Kudo was brought down in the box by Jalil Anababa. It was a controversial decision by the referee, but he clearly felt the challenge was illegal. Have a look for yourself:

Morales, who’s scored three spot kicks coming into the match, scored his fourth as he sent the Dynamo keeper the wrong way and gave the Vancouver Whitecaps an early lead.
The Whitecaps had plenty of other chances to double their lead, noticeably Fraser Aird’s ball through to Kudo forced a save from Joe Willis in the Dynamo net.
Houston twice came close to the important equaliser, hitting the post two times through Leonel Miranda and Ricardo Clark’s long-shot.
The win for Vancouver is their second in a row and pushes them up to 4th in the Western Conference.
