Former Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jon Kempin has joined LA Galaxy, the club has confirmed on their website on Friday.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper joined the MLS with Sporting KC in August 2010. He has made sporadic appearances for the side, spending time on loan at multiple NASL and USL sides including Orlando City, who are now part of the MLS.
General Manager for LA Galaxy Pete Vaganas said that Kempin impressed during the preseason:
Jon is a young player with potential that can provide us with valuable depth at the goalkeeper position. He impressed during our preseason this year and we are excited to bring him on board.
LA Galaxy have also brought in the likes of 35-year-old midfielder Jermaine Jones, who began his career in Germany, and Romain Alessandrini from French side Marseille.
The side will however be without the likes of Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane, with the former officially retiring from football at the age of 36.
