Real Salt Lake overcame the Seattle Sounders 2-1 at Rio Tinto on Saturday, thanks to a late winner by Jamison Olave. Coming into the match, both sides were on the back of opening day defeats, however, it was Real Salt Lake that took all three points in a cagey affair.
The Sounders took the lead in the 28th minute through Osvaldo Alonso as he finished from close range which gave them a 1-0 lead to hold on to.
However, Salt Lake hit back through Sunny Obayan in the 43rd minute as he headed home from Joao Plata’s corner. The match was level going into half-time.

Into the second half and it was fairly even in terms of shots and possession of the ball. Both teams had several chances to go into the lead and eventually it was Real Salt Lake who did take their chance, through Jamison Olave in the 86th minute.

A good three points for Real Salt Lake, who will now look to push on this season after achieving their first win of the year. For the Sounders, that’s two defeats in two. Time to panic?
