Toronto FC shock Atlanta United to advance to MLS Cup Final
A Jozy Altidore-less Toronto FC defeated Atlanta United 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Championship at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Toronto will now play against the Seattle Sounders in the MLS Cup final. This effectively closes the career of former US international Michael Parkhurst.
It took just four minutes for Atlanta’s Julian Gressel to open the scoring, tapping in the pass from Pity Martinez.

Josef Martinez had a chance to put Atlanta 2-0 up, but his penalty was saved by Quentin Westberg.
Nicolas Benezet’s effort found the back of the net with a beautiful curling effort to level things 1-1 in the 14th minute.
After a while without much action, Toronto took the lead after Nick Deleon picked out the top corner to give Toronto the 2-1 advantage after 78 minutes.
